First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BCR.
Java Developer Intern
It was a group interview with the team leader and some employees. There were 5 of us total trying to answer questions. The questions were pretty easy, but the whole vibe of the interview process wasn't great.
- Can you define SOLID principles?
Data Scientist
This was a pretty lame interview process. The interviewers seemed to have only a basic understanding of Data Science, and they struggled when I tried to explain things in more detail. The people working here seem more business-oriented. The questions weren't very technical, which really tells you something about the kind of people they have.
- How would you approach solving this business problem?
IT Specialist
I had a really bad HR experience. The interview had 2 stages: one with an HR intern and another with the Digital department. I applied on Hipo.ro and the HR intern contacted me. We had a brief chat at the office. It was mostly about my personality, skills, and preferred departments. When I asked about the departments, the intern didn't know and said I'd find out later. This made it hard to know what I was applying for. After about 3 weeks, another HR intern contacted me for the next stage. I showed up on time, but waited 40 minutes. Someone else, from Retail, was filling in for the intern. The discussion was like the first one, not really about Digital, but Retail, which was weird. Later, the HR intern called to apologize for missing the interview and confirmed I met with the wrong team. She asked if I could come the next day, but I had exams and said I'd call to reschedule for the following week. They called me uninterested, but I asked for a new date. HR didn't know when the Digital team was free and said they'd call back, which they never did. I tried contacting them but no response. I eventually left a message thanking BCR for the opportunity and saying I'd accepted another job.

QA Test Analyst
I went to the bank's headquarters in Bucharest. I had an interview with a recruiter from the tech department. It started with behavioral questions. Then they asked about my experience, studies, and projects, and I had to describe my summer projects and research. The recruiter was patient and asked follow-up questions. After discussing my background, the recruiter explained the workflow at BCR and its benefits. Finally, I was asked which IT department branch I preferred and why.
