First, there was a phone screening, followed by an in-person interview that turned out to be a panel interview. It felt really awkward. The VP didn't introduce himself or shake my hand right away. They asked a lot of questions that weren't really related to the job posting. Since I came from a larger company in a similar industry, they seemed more interested in how that company worked rather than what skills I could bring to this job. It felt more like an investigation to get info about my employer at the time, which I didn't give because it's not proper. On top of that, they asked many detailed questions about specific systems not mentioned in the job posting. The whole experience was just weird. You could tell this place lacked diversity and was looking for a specific type of person.

I had an interview with someone named Rusty. He was late, dressed very casually, and acted unprofessionally throughout. He kept adjusting himself, took a phone call while I was speaking, and repeatedly asked me the same question about why I left my previous job, even laughing at one point. This made me realize I didn't want to work there, as the environment seemed unprofessional and poorly managed, with a raggedy building and a prejudiced hiring process. It felt like a waste of time.

It started out informally, like a chat where I talked about my experiences and history. Everyone was really nice and tried to make me feel at ease in the first interview. They held off on the technical stuff for the second interview.

The interview journey was quite long, but it was definitely worth it in the end! First, I had a phone call, then an email exchange, followed by a meeting with my potential manager, and finally, I interviewed with the CEO. I was able to start my new role just two weeks after that and have been loving it ever since.
