BBD Java Developer Interview Questions
& Process

I was first contacted by someone from BBD, and the initial stage was a Hackerrank test. It had mostly easy and straightforward questions, but it was quite long, taking about 2.5 hours. After passing the test, I received an interview invitation at one of their clients' offices, Standard Bank, located in Johannesburg CBD. This struck me as quite unusual. The interview itself took place in a cafe, which was rather noisy because it was lunchtime. I found the whole experience to be terrible. The intention seemed to be a casual discussion about my experience, but I couldn't get comfortable due to the setting. The interview mainly focused on understanding my past experience and the technologies I prefer. Two days later, I got an email stating they wouldn't be extending an offer because they had found more suitable candidates. They also mentioned they wouldn't provide feedback due to the high volume of candidates they'd interviewed.

I interviewed at their Pune office in September 2017. The first part was an online test on Hackerrank that lasted 3 hours. It included multiple-choice questions, bug fixing tasks, and coding problems. After that, I had a face-to-face technical interview.

First, I had to do this online test, and after passing that, they called me in for an interview. They made it seem like I was gonna get hired, but then I got declined.
