The hiring process felt really smooth. The receptionist who called me and the staff I met were all great. I talked to a super nice receptionist first, and then a really engaging and smart hiring manager. They gave me clear and helpful info about the job, how I could grow, and what they expected. You could tell they're all dedicated, ambitious, and positive people. I liked that the questions were mostly about me and my personality, not about my sales history or hitting past quotas. They all seem like awesome people who are really focused on growing themselves and the company.

Applied for a marketing associate role, but it turned out to be a recruiting company disguised as a marketing firm. They hire salespeople, and all new hires start as distributor-salesmen on commission only, selling AT&T and cosmetics. The company structure is ambiguous and seems like a pyramid scheme. Many employees lack marketing/business backgrounds or legitimate degrees. They portray themselves as a direct marketing firm, but it's actually door-to-door sales. Managers brag about making six figures, which seems unrealistic given the sales model and short tenure. The hiring strategy involves calling many applicants for falsified positions, hoping someone accepts. This is not a real marketing firm, but a recruiting firm for desperate individuals lacking credentials.

So I applied for this job and the company's website says they do direct marketing, but doesn't really explain it. In my second interview, they took me out to see what it's all about. Turns out, they sell off-brand cosmetics to local businesses by going door-to-door. We went into a salon and they asked if BBC could stop coming there because they've been so many times. Then we went to a cafe and the barista told us to leave because soliciting wasn't allowed. I was so embarrassed for the person showing me around, who seemed really sweet and maybe also got duped into this job. She was hyping it up, possibly to convince herself. When I got back, another interviewee was there and we both realized this wasn't what we expected - it's just door-to-door sales and multilevel marketing. After that field 'experience', I was offered the job on the spot, but when I said I needed to think, they asked what my other options were. They don't handle rejection well. Everyone is nice, but not 'sell my soul' nice.
