First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bay Area Community Services.
Case Manager
Two recent hires who just got their licenses were late for the interview. They didn't have my resume and hadn't even checked it. Then they yelled at me, saying going the extra mile for a client in crisis wouldn't fly. They were casual about me using my own car for clients and acted like I was beneath them, not respecting the job.
- Can you tell me about your strengths?
- What about your weaknesses?
Clinician
The interview process was awesome, efficient, and very creative. They used unique questions and had a sense of humor, making it feel easy. The questions ranged widely but were very organized and conversational. It also included a writing test on the computer, checking of references, and talking about passions.
- Tell me about the most creative intervention you've ever employed as a clinician with clients.
Residential Counselor
I applied and got contacted by a local center. They said they got my resume and asked if I was interested in a different position. I said yes and we scheduled an interview. I went in for what felt like a basic social services interview. They mentioned there were two positions I could get and I'd need to interview again so they could decide which was a better fit. A week later, I got called for an interview at their headquarters. It went well and they said they'd let me know if I was hired. Another week passed and I got the offer. I was interviewing elsewhere so I held off on answering. Then, I got a voicemail saying they were restructuring the program and offered me a different role (employment coordinator). I called back, left a message saying I was interested but needed more info. I tried reaching out two more times by voicemail and email but never heard back. They never called me back.
- Why did you decide to apply to BACS?
Intern
The interview process was very professional and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this organization to anyone who is interested. I had a very positive experience here.
- What are your professional strengths?
