Basis Technologies Software Engineer Interview Questions
& Process

First, a senior engineer asked a basic OOP question. Then, there were two more rounds with multiple engineers where I had to solve several LeetCode problems. The LeetCodes were mostly easy/medium, with possibly one hard one at the end of the third round. The final round was with a senior engineer for a wrap-up behavioral interview.

I applied online and then a recruiter got back to me really fast, like within an hour. We had a quick phone screen a couple of days later. On the day of that call, they asked me to set up a technical phone interview, which I did for the next week. The day after that technical call, they offered to fly me out for an on-site interview, and I scheduled it for the week after that. The on-site took a few hours and had technical challenges and regular interview questions. I thought they were super quick with everything.

It was a good overall experience. The recruiter was responsive. The team seems nice. However, the process takes a lot of time. It started with a conversation with a director, followed by a take-home assignment that could have been a one-hour low-level design interview, but instead took a good part of the day. Then, there was a panel interview with 6 people over 3 hours (2 per interview). A negative point was the company's emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion, contrasted with the all-male panel and lack of women on the team.
