Program Assistant
All interview rounds felt like nice chats, not like I was being interrogated or screened out. They really encourage work-life balance there. Even before offering me the job, the Hiring Manager said it was okay to work from home if my kids ever needed me, which was super comforting to hear. I found out later during orientation that this is part of Base2's company policy to put 'Family First'. The HR and Hiring Manager were quick to share the results. I heard back in under 48 hours after each round, which was faster than I expected.
- Can you share your experience and how it applies to this specific role?
- In what ways can your background be beneficial for this particular job?
- How does your previous experience prepare you for the unique aspects of this position?
Systems Engineer
I interviewed for a systems engineering role. It kicked off with an HR phone screen that was pretty standard and high-level. Then, I chatted with the hiring manager on the phone, and we dug into my past projects and technical skills. They then flew me out for an onsite interview at their headquarters. Base2 was great with setting up the visit; they were flexible about my timeline, telling me to let them know when I was ready. Since my resume and previous interviews showed my technical chops, the in-person part was mostly about non-technical consulting skills like leadership, communication, managing stress, resolving conflicts with tough people, and interacting with everyone from engineers to execs. The interview felt laid-back, like a real discussion. I met with about 4-5 people, including the President and a VP, for 30-40 minutes each. I left really wanting the job! They made me an offer on the spot, which met my salary and benefits needs, so I accepted.
- Were any of the questions unexpected?
- Was it challenging to communicate your soft skills without sounding vague?
Quality Assurance Associate
I originally interviewed for a dev or SDET job, and they liked me but didn't have the right fit. They reached out a year later for a QA role they thought I'd like. I talked with management about my testing ideas, what I've done in the last year, and QA stuff, and then they hired me. Base2's interview is good, they want to know you and see if you're a good fit for the team.
- Can you give an example of a time you disagreed with developers or customers about software quality?
- Tell me about a time you pushed back on developers or customers regarding software quality.
Senior QA Engineer
Applied online and went through a phone screen, followed by an on-site interview. Recruiter called the next day saying I got the job but had to wait for the position to open in 3-5 weeks. Yesterday, got an email that the job went to a former employee. It was like a bait and switch, still can't believe it.
- A programming question that was straightforward.
- A question about testing.
