First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Barton Malow.
Project Engineer/Project Manager
I applied online and a week later spoke with the HR Manager for about 45 minutes. The next week, I did a walk-through of the Olympic Center project and met with the project executive for about 50 minutes. The week after that, I had an in-person meeting at their office with the Sr. Director and Project Executive which lasted about 15 minutes. I was asked for references twice. About a week after that, I was informed I didn't get the job.
- Tell me about your background in vertical construction.
- How do you see yourself contributing to Barton Malow?
- What are your salary expectations?
Project Manager
The company got in touch quickly and set up a first phone interview. It went well, and the HR person was nice. But that's where the good stuff stopped. After that, the company didn't say anything about the interview. I followed up twice, and each time HR said the hiring manager was away. This was over 6 months ago now.
- Can you tell me about a challenge you faced and how you dealt with it?
Intranet Specialist
I applied on May 16 and had a phone screening on June 4, which went really well. A day later, I was invited for an in-person interview on June 13 with two Marketing leaders. It felt like a conversation, not an interrogation, and I felt confident about my chances. However, on July 1, I got a rejection email. I was surprised since the interview seemed to go well and I was told my experience was a good fit. I reached out for feedback on the same day and again on July 8 after not hearing back, and also messaged the hiring director on LinkedIn. I still haven't received a response, which is disappointing given my initial positive impression of the company. The lack of feedback and the impersonal rejection email have made the experience negative, leaving me wondering why I wasn't selected and unable to learn from the process.
- What would your manager say about you?
VDC Engineer
The interview process involved two phone calls, followed by three virtual interviews, and concluding with an in-person interview. We spent a lot of time discussing my previous experience and how the company currently operates. We also compared the technologies I've utilized in the past with those they are using now.
- Were you open to travel for the role.
