The interview process usually starts with introductions of the company and the candidate. Then, the employer asks questions about experience, skills, and motivation. You should answer clearly, show you're serious, and ask good questions yourself. Finally, the interview ends with info about the next steps in hiring.

It was a pretty straightforward process. We had an easy conversation about my experience and the expectations for the position. I left the conversation with a clear understanding of the role. We ultimately weren’t aligned on salary so I opted out of continuing, but they were kind about it and seemed open to reconnecting on other opportunities in the future.

I had to reschedule our interview once, but after I finally made it to the interview, the General Manager wasn't even available for our scheduled time. Instead, I ended up talking to a Manager who seemed unaware of the role I was interviewing for. He started off by complaining about the current staff and then went on to boast about how easy his own job was. The whole experience left me feeling pretty uneasy and uncertain about how to proceed.
