First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Barriques.
Cafe Specialist
I sent in my resume online and heard back about 3 weeks later to set up an interview. The first interview was just me and the branch's GM. It felt pretty structured, like she had a list of questions to get through, and then I'd get to ask mine at the end. After she was done, I felt like I could chat with her, and it became a more relaxed conversation. She seemed a bit awkward with the whole interview thing, but once we started talking like normal people, it felt way better. They asked pretty standard stuff, like why pick me over others, how I handle customer service, and if I knew about beer, coffee, or wine. It wasn't super exciting, so I had to really make my answers stand out by adding personal stories and examples.
- Do you have experience with beer and wine?
- Why do you want to work here?
Barista
I applied online for the Barista job and heard back from the manager in a few days. I went in for a casual chat where we talked about my experience and background. The manager offered me the job a few days after that.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Barriques?
- How do you distinguish yourself from other applicants?
Cafe Specialist
The interview process was pretty easy and actually kind of fun. It started with a 20-minute phone interview. After that, I went to the store for about 30-45 minutes for an in-person interview, and then they showed me around the store.
- Can you tell me about your work ethic?
Barista
It was a super chill interview. We just sat down at a table in the cafe, and she asked me some easy behavioral questions. My lack of experience wasn't a big deal since the first few months are all about training shifts.
- Can you share an example of a time you collaborated with a team?
