This was a great interview! My boss was incredibly engaging and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire conversation. The questions were insightful and allowed me to showcase my skills and experience in a meaningful way. I left the interview feeling energized and excited about the potential of this opportunity.
- Could you introduce yourself and explain your interest in this role?
- What are your primary strengths and areas for improvement?
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
Systems Engineer
Applied online. Got a call back in about a week where they confirmed I was okay with a slightly lower salary than I'd put on my application. I agreed and booked an interview for the next week. The interview wasn't too hard, a bit technical but mostly behavioral with about 5 team members. I didn't hear anything back for 3 weeks, so I reached out to the recruiter. Still waiting to hear back.
- Can you describe your experience with writing code?
Engineer
So I had this initial chat with HR, basically they just went over my resume and asked about salary expectations. About a week later, HR called again and set up a phone interview with two managers. One of them was actually an astronaut, like famous enough for Wikipedia. I think I got a bit freaked out by that and maybe messed up some answers. It was mostly behavioral stuff and checking if I was really interested. The pay isn't great, but the projects sound amazing and the people seemed cool from what I saw. Got an email a week after that saying they decided to go with other people.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Can you share an instance of a team conflict and how you resolved it?
- What are your salary expectations?
Software Engineer
Applied online and got a call from HR a few days later, then the hiring manager. Both calls were brief with just a few questions and then they ended the call abruptly. It was a weird process and they seemed rushed. I was told upfront the pay was low and no relocation, which was fine since I was interested. The hiring manager emailed me for like 2 weeks before the actual interview, which was over Zoom and had about 4 technical questions, lasting around 40 minutes. I got a bad vibe from their attitude, especially how they reacted weirdly when I asked about work-life balance. The manager said I'd hear back in a week, but nothing came. For the next month, I kept getting emails saying they hadn't decided until I got another offer. The communication was terrible and the company gave a strange impression. It felt like they didn't want to be there or hire anyone for the role.
