it was fine, you interview three times and do an assessment. couldn’t tell how i did. took around two weeks or so and they call to let you know if you got the job or not.
I got referred by a former intern, and they said the role was 16-24 hours a week in-person and unpaid. As a student, this meant commuting 30+ mins 2-3 days a week for free 9-5 work. After I asked about interns who might have second jobs (to make up for the lack of pay from &Barr), they ghosted me. It was a while ago, but it totally put me off the company. If this is how they treat interns, I can't imagine for full-time employees. Some people say, "That's just how it is for interns." But I've since gotten paid hourly or stipend hybrid/remote internships. It's not too much to ask. I don't know if &Barr has started paying interns or offering remote work, but if not, it's a major turn-off today.
I interviewed with three people, and it was pretty casual. It felt like high school, like you're in or you're out. The interview was really short and I didn't get much feedback. The supervisor seemed like a nice guy, but didn't really know what we were doing day-to-day. I was excited going in, but it left a bad impression. With ten years of experience and a master's degree, they made me feel like an outsider. I got an automated rejection email later. I'm not interested in a place like that.
