Had a quick phone chat, pretty standard. They hit me with some basic questions and also asked about what's new in the industry and any books I've read or am currently reading. The people seemed nice. The pay is minimum wage, and they offer minimum hours, so it's a good fit if you're a student or just have a lot going on.

The interview wasn't that tough or official. I was taken to the receiving area where we talked about what the job entails. They asked me to expand on certain aspects of my resume and work background, how they connect to the position I was seeking, and how I might use them. They also covered the typical questions, like how I found out about the opening and my motivations for wanting to join B&N.

I got hired as a team member for a new store, so the hiring process was a bit different from the typical onboarding. Since management were building a new team, many people were hired in a short time. My experience is therefore atypical. I applied and was interviewed on the same day. The process has since changed to an online only system which complies with Equal Opportunity Employer standards.
