First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at bareMinerals.
Beauty Ambassador
You will have an online teams interview. After that, there will be an in-store skills test where you'll do makeup on someone. Then, you'll have a store approval with the store manager which includes an interview where they ask generic questions.
- What makes you want to join bare minerals?
Beauty Ambassador
I applied online and then was invited for a makeover session where I had to approach and give a makeover to a stranger in the style of bareminerals, while a manager observed and took notes. After passing this, I was scheduled for a face-to-face interview. I had previously informed the company that I was only available until September and could work the two requested days. I confirmed this again via email with the area manager, who then cancelled my interview without considering my availability. I'm disappointed they wasted my travel time for the trial and wouldn't recommend them.
- Can you commit to working two days per week?
Key Holder
So I had a phone screening first, which was all general questions to see if I was a good fit before the face-to-face. Then I had two in-person interviews, each lasting about 30 minutes. We discussed sales techniques, my favorite Bare Minerals products, and how I'd feel about coaching a team. The last interview was a makeunder where I had to do a friend's (who was my model) makeup and go through a mock sale. They watched how well I applied makeup and explained what I was doing.
- What makes you want to work for Bare Minerals?
- Which Bare Minerals product is your favorite?
- How would you assist colleagues in resolving a disagreement?
Beauty Ambassador
My first interview was great. Kimberly Brown, store manager, was my interviewer. It was just a verbal, basic kind of interview then later that week I had a practical interview where I applied makeup to a model. Nerve racking but relaxed environment. I got the job! But due to personal reasons, I had to quit several months later. I re-applied a year or so after I left. I had an interview with Melody Key, the assistant manager, and another with the current manager, who I can't remember her name. Two separate, verbal only interviews. I did not get hired but I was told that when I had previously worked there, some members of the staff were problematic and I was lumped into that group even though I never had a negative comment about my work. Still, can't get hired and I'm not sure why
- Can you describe how you would manage a given situation?
- What are your thoughts regarding cosmetics?
