Behavioral Technical Other

I applied for a role at Banner Bank and the interview process was quite detailed and professional. It started with an online application, followed by a phone screening. During the phone screen, I was asked behavioral questions and questions specific to the industry. There was also a personality test that assessed my financial knowledge and customer service skills. I'm waiting to hear about the next steps, but overall, it felt like a good mix of evaluating my technical abilities and how I'd fit into the company culture.

Behavioral

The interview was pretty easy with a few situational questions about handling customers and your motivation for joining the company. The interviewer was unprofessional and didn't contact me back until I followed up after more than a week. They told me they ended up hiring internally. I suspect they wouldn't have gotten back to me if I hadn't reached out, and instead of calling or emailing, they just texted.

Behavioral

The interview was almost entirely and excessively composed of behavioral questions. Like 'what would you do if you came across a coworker who was not pulling their weight' was asked. At one point towards the end I had to remind the panel to talk about the actual job as the interview was about to conclude without doing so. The interviewers need to realize assessing candidates isn't only about asking behavioral questions, and if they are going to ask such sensitive questions they need to be inserted into the conversation naturally rather than shoehorned like someone is on trial.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • What would you do if you encountered a coworker who wasn't contributing their fair share?
  • Describe a time you responded to criticism from a manager.

Behavioral Technical

It was pretty simple. The interviewer kept yawning though, which was really discouraging. Other than that, it went great. I have a lot of call center experience, so recalling relevant examples for the interview questions was easy. It seemed like more of a character check to gauge professionalism. Even without experience, you could probably talk your way into an offer. Think about a time you called customer service and imagine you were the agent. Say things like, 'I would reassure the customer that we'll do everything possible to fix their problem.' Stuff like that. You'll get it if you don't say, 'The customer was mad for no reason and nothing would have satisfied them.' Lie! Say you provided the best customer service ever.

  • Tell me about a time you had to deal with an angry customer over the phone.
  • Can you provide an example of a similar situation you've handled before?
