First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bank of Oklahoma.
UI Designer
So the interview process had 3 rounds. First it was HR, then the design manager, and finally I met someone who would be my coworker. It was a pretty standard process where we just talked about my past work. They said I'd hear back about an offer, but I ended up getting ghosted. Later, after I took another job, they told me they decided to hire someone internally.
- Can you tell me about your experience with various design platforms?
- Which design software do you typically use, and what are your preferences?
- What are your previous experiences in UI design, and where did you acquire them?
Relationship Banker
The whole thing took about two weeks and had three parts. I applied online with my resume. A recruiter called the very next day to set up a phone interview. After that, I had an in-person interview with two regional managers, and then finally met with a branch manager and assistant branch manager. They all used STAR format questions. You'll need to talk about specific examples of great customer service you've given, how you function in a team, and what your future career plans are. The recruiter acts as a go-between for you and the interviewers the entire time and lets you know their decisions quickly. The recruiter will start the background check process. So far, no drug test. All in all, it was a really good experience.
- Tell me about a time you offered customer service that exceeded your job's requirements.
- What strategies do you use to achieve sales targets in your current role?
- What specifically about financial services draws you to this opportunity?
Administrative
The recruiter only asked about my previous job, what I expect from this role, my motivations, and why I want the job. These were easy questions. However, the recruiter made me feel terrible, to the point I was crying afterward. She acted like I wasn't answering her questions and didn't listen to me. She was very condescending and implied I was incompetent. I've never had an interview like this before. I was so stunned I couldn't speak at one point, but I remained professional because the hiring manager liked my resume and I wanted the job. The recruiter prevented me from speaking with the hiring manager. I won't apply to BOK again unless I can interview with the hiring manager directly, not the recruiter. This is my second bad experience with BOK's recruitment department this year.
- What led to your departure from your last job?
Personal Banker
I applied through a referral link. The recruiter reached out, and we had a phone interview. Afterward, she contacted me again to schedule an in-person interview at a location in OKC. I was expecting the recruiter to follow up after the interview, at least to let me know if they were moving forward with another candidate. I reached out to the recruiter myself but never got a response via email or phone call. Eventually, I received a generic email saying they had decided to move on with another candidate.
- What are your strategies for building trust with both clients and colleagues?
