I was already working at Bank of Cardiff in a more junior role when this Accountant II position opened up. I applied internally and was granted an interview. Because it was several years ago, I don't recall the specific questions asked. The interview was quite informal since I knew my interviewers and they were already familiar with my work and qualifications. I was asked to give a short presentation. I do remember they had interviewed external candidates, but I believe my strong employment record and commitment to the company were deciding factors in their offer. This experience gives me hope for future advancement within the company.

I found the job posting online and submitted my application through a recruiter. After I filled out an application form and sent my resume, the recruiter contacted me. We had a phone interview to see if I was a good fit, and then I was sent to Bank of Cardiff for my main interview. There, I had to take a short test and then meet with two managers face-to-face. They seemed nice and easy to talk to, but they did ask some challenging questions. I got the sense they were looking for someone with good qualifications who would also integrate well with the existing team.

My recruiter let me know about this role in Southern California. I got a call from them and we talked for about half an hour. After that, we decided to meet at their headquarters. I flew to San Diego and stayed for two days. On the first day, I met with a senior accountant and we talked about the company's standard procedures and the job's duties. By the end of the day, they gave me a formal offer. I spent the second day in San Diego hashing out the details with HR.
