First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bangor Savings Bank.
Software Engineer
The hiring process included a 30-minute virtual chat with HR to go over behavioral type questions, then a virtual meeting with tech leads and the SVP to dig into your technical capabilities, experiences, and previous achievements.
- Tell me about a difficult project you took on and your approach to managing it.
Deposit Operations Specialist
It was pretty disappointing to go through two rounds of in person interviews and be sent an automatically generated rejection email at midnight weeks later. Apparently this is how they do business, since I see others saying the same in 2021. Having my follow up email ignored for weeks to then receive an automatic email with absolutely no feedback is fairly disrespectful to people’s time, and I will not be applying to Bangor Savings Bank again in the future, nor would I recommend anyone else do so.
- All very generic interview questions were asked.
Bank Teller
I applied for a bank teller job at the Amherst branch. The manager was super nice and we had a great chat. Things were going well and the manager seemed to really like me. But for me, the big issue was the mandatory weeklong training in Bangor, Maine. They do cover your lodging and gas, but it's a 3 1/2 hour drive each way, which is too much for me and my car. The manager said it couldn't be changed, so we wrapped up the interview on good terms.
- What's one area you're looking to develop further in your skill set?
Consultant
They will have you do interviews. Which is a waste of time, even if you are qualified they will deny you a job offer if you select the wrong box on the P.I behavioral test which has been proven that the P.I (personality index) behavioral test does not reflect employee's performance. They will ask for references but then they will not reach out to them (again a waste of time on your end) because I asked my references if the company reached out and references said they did not. They will mandate a vaccine, and have you be in the office all the time even if you can work remotely with no issue. Overall, bad HR experience with no communication skills and only determine who gets hired based off the P.I index which doesn't work.
