First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Banana Republic.
Store Associate
Applied online on Indeed and received a call two days later for an interview the following week. I had to reschedule because I was out of town and called back the next week to set it up. It was a really chill and easy group interview with 3 other people, two with experience and one like me, a high school junior. We took turns answering about 7 questions in a circle. The manager was nice, agreed with us, and did most of the talking to break the ice and tell jokes. After that, we did a quick activity where an employee acted as a customer, and we had to help them find two outfits for two occasions, which was also pretty easy. Best interview ever, just be confident, honest, and practice a bit.
- Could you share a bit about yourself?
- What are your thoughts on Banana Republic?
- What does integrity signify to you?

I applied online on a Monday and got called in for a group interview a few days later for the following Monday. When I came in for the interview, they had some others waiting aside to be called. A girl and a guy came out to greet us and took us to the farmers market area so we could all sit and start the group interview. They were very nice, they only asked basic questions and let everyone answer them. Try to be one of the first ones to answer the questions and be very clear about your customer service and sales experience, that's what they are looking for. Also, availability is very important. It only took about 15 minutes, and they said they would do background checks and that they would call us back by Friday. I thought the interview went great but my background check took too long.
- What does customer service mean to you?
- What's your reason for wanting to work at Banana Republic?
Cashier
The interview was pretty standard for a retail job. They had an individual interview and a group interview. They asked about my experience and how I interact with customers.
- What would you do if you had a customer who was not happy?
- Can you describe your past experiences?
- How do you handle interactions with the public?
