Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Banana Republic.
Designer
They wanted to see my portfolio and asked a few questions about my background. They also told me about the internship program, how many projects I'd do, and what activities are planned for Fridays.
- Could you show me your portfolio?
Designer
It was a really long interview process, like 4 months. It started with a recruiter call, then an interview with the manager, followed by an interview with the senior director, and then I had to interview with the manager again. The people were all super helpful and nice though. The interviews were easy, they mostly seemed to be checking my personality and if I'd be a good fit for the team. The recruiter was great, always keeping me updated and making sure I was comfortable. The only downside was how long it took.
- Can you describe your typical daily tasks in your last position?
- What's your understanding of Banana Republic?
- What are your career aspirations?
Assistant Designer
I met with the design director. We talked about standard things like telling me about myself and going through my resume. They also looked at my portfolio. The director asked me about my potential role on a new team they are forming and if I could handle a fast-paced work environment.
- Are you able to work in a fast-paced environment?
- What is your approach to teamwork?
