First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ballard Designs.
Design Intern
I thought I nailed the interview and was totally qualified, but they ghosted me. I had to follow up twice before they finally let me know I didn't get the offer. I even asked for feedback twice and never heard back. Super disappointing.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Interior Design Consultant
Had a FaceTime chat with a manager and a regional manager. Two separate interviews happened, followed by discussions about the next steps to start the job. They don't do drug tests, so it was a fast 2-week process.
- Tell me about your interior design experience.
Merchant
The interviewers were pleasant and asked good dynamic questions that required experience-based responses. They inquired about my morals, career goals, and hopes for the future. I was presented with hypothetical scenarios and asked to explain my course of action. There was ample time allocated for me to ask my own questions.
- Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a colleague or their choices and how you resolved it.
- What are your personal ethics and values?
- What do you hope to achieve in your career?
Sales Associate
I signed up online for an interview slot for Balled Designs open positions. They were set up in a hotel conference room and did interviews all day for a few days. Managers seemed friendly even though they must have been tired doing interviews back-to-back. They gave me the store manager's card at the end and told me I should hear back very soon, implying I would likely get an offer.
- Can you tell me about your retail experience?
