Behavioral Group

This was a group interview for executive marketing roles, with other applicants for various company positions. The interviewer was friendly but seemed rehearsed and awkward. The questions were very high-level. When I shared an example of overcoming a tough situation during a BFCM sale involving re-establishing paid media forecasts and PR efforts, the other participants seemed confused. It felt like a bizarre interview for an executive role, almost like a screening for religious affiliation, which was odd given my lack of it. Definitely awkward.

I applied through LinkedIn, and right after, a tech recruiter got in touch and scheduled an initial mapping interview with HR. The second interview is a group dynamic, basically with one interviewer asking questions where everyone responds. The third interview is with the manager and Tech Lead, with more technical questions but also open-ended ones.

We had a group interview with HR. About 15 of us, who applied for different jobs, sat around a table and took turns answering questions out loud. It went for at least an hour and a half. Before we left, we had to take a short IQ test. If they liked you, you'd apparently come back for 2 or 3 more interviews before they did a background check and a drug test.

I was asked to join a group interview, which I haven’t been asked to do since working my way through college at call centers. They didn’t ask about my availability they just gave me a time and said, be there. As a person currently working in an executive level role I thought this was at strange way to go about hiring for a VP role. I thought this was odd and a possible red flag, but I decided to go to the group interview. Once I showed up to the interview, they directed the group in interviewees to a conference room, where a guy with a wrinkled shirt with stains on it, conducted an awkward group interview. Then at the end of the interview, they passed out a worksheet for everyone to fill out. The worksheet tested pattern recognition and sentence structure. I feel like I wasted an hour of my life. I spent hours researching this company and prepping to go in depth if I needed to. It was all very strange.
