It was during COVID 19 and everything was virtual. It was with, if I remember correctly, three individuals interviewing me. One of them was my direct supervisor. They asked typical questions for a student work job.

I talked with the Dean and the Director of the Science & Engineering Dept. It was supposed to be an hour, but ended up being three hours. They asked about my 30 years as a research and analytical chemist, my education, classes I liked and disliked. They also asked about my past research projects and why I wanted to become a professor. I was supposed to give a presentation, but they said I didn't need to since I was ready to teach.

The hiring process was really drawn out and slow. I was super disappointed by how little communication there was. It took more than 90 days just to hear that I was still being considered. It felt a little weird having to chase down their HR department to find out what was going on. Everyone I spoke to was nice, but they kept things pretty vague about the whole process and how long it might take.

I found the opening on the school's HR website and applied online. The application requires submitting your transcripts, but you don't need to send in your teaching philosophy. The interview process involved a panel where each member asked questions one after another.
