First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Baker Roofing Company.
Service Administrator
Had a phone interview with HR and then an onsite interview with the hiring manager. The onsite was really disrespectful and unprofessional. The hiring manager asked my age and if I was married, then got offended when I didn't answer, trying to smooth it over by telling me his own age and marital status. He knew he messed up. The other red flag was when he said the last person in the role left because his job was combined with someone else's due to layoffs. The whole vibe was bad. Not getting a call back was a blessing!
- May I inquire about your age?
- Are you married?
Administrative Assistant
I applied online and got a call a few days later for a quick phone interview. Then, I was invited for an in-person interview a few days after that, which went pretty well. It felt relaxed even though there were three people interviewing me. I felt comfortable, and they didn't ask a lot of questions; it was more like a good conversation, which I liked. They also seemed happy to answer my questions.
- How would you manage stressful situations?
- Can you handle doing multiple things at once?
- Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses.
Account Manager
I had a good talk with the recruiter. We discussed the job and they answered my questions. They really sold the company to me. They asked me to follow up if I hadn't heard back by a certain day the following week. I emailed and called them, but never got a response. I get it if the hiring manager passed on my resume, but I wish they wouldn't be too scared to just tell me.
- How do you manage your incoming workload?
Technical Representative
So, it was a typical interview where I had to explain my background and they asked if I was comfortable climbing on roofs. It was an easy interview. I sat down with a few managers who talked about the job and hiring process. I also had a meet and greet with office staff and got a tour.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- Would you be comfortable with climbing on roofs as part of the job?
