Avalara Software Engineer interviews, decoded.

Had a coding, system design, HM, and AI focused interview process with multiple rounds. The recruiter was insistent on a 60-day notice period. I got positive feedback from all interview rounds and we agreed on an offer. I submitted all my documents from my current organization, and then they told me there was a hiring freeze. It's frustrating when there's a hiring freeze, why waste candidates' time and ask for all the documents?

We're looking for someone to design and build applications in the tax area. This would involve automating processes, ensuring compliance, handling data, validating rules, generating reports, and managing tax regulations and filings efficiently across different places, systems, and teams.

The interview had 2 rounds, each lasting 2 hours. The first round was technical, focusing on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) and my resume. The second round was managerial, covering behavioral questions and my resume. This 2-round structure repeated three times.
