I interviewed in 2010. The company gave me nice accommodations at the best hotel in downtown Augusta for 2 nights, and they also paid for all meals and transportation. The interview process itself was only about an hour and a half in the late morning. A current student showed me to three different interviews on campus, each lasting half an hour. Some people got accepted before the interview day. The rest of the day involved an introduction to the program, touring labs, and asking researchers questions.
I applied online and heard back the next week for an interview. I showed up at the PI's office the following morning. I had to wait about an hour for the PI, and the interview was with another research assistant while the PI looked at emails. They asked typical interview questions. I got a job offer the week after.
I first had a phone chat with the Lab Manager, and then I had another phone interview with the Principal Investigator. The first interview was mostly about learning about the lab's research, and the second was a quick Q&A to gauge my subject knowledge.
