AssemblyAI HR reached out in mid-December, and I had my initial soft skill and coding interviews the next week. After the holidays, I completed the final two stages: a system design interview and a team panel interview. A few days later, I received an offer. The overall process was very smooth; without the holiday break, it likely would have concluded in about two weeks instead of a month. The interviewers were friendly and helpful, making it feel more like a conversation with colleagues than a formal interview.
My interview process was great. I only worked at one company before applying to AssemblyAI, so I was pretty nervous and out of practice when it came to interviewing. Everyone in the process was very nice and receptive to my questions, and things were communicated really clearly to me between the stages. Despite a huge time difference, the responses were prompt and everyone really went out their way to answer any questions I had.
The recruiter was hard to reach and missed the first call, so we had to reschedule. After that, I had a phone screen and then a call with the hiring manager. The whole process took about 3 weeks and involved 2 calls, but I was ultimately rejected without any feedback. They really need to improve their hiring process.
