I applied for a senior manager role via a referral, even though I felt slightly underqualified. I successfully passed the recruiter screen but unfortunately didn't get past the hiring manager screen. The VP who interviewed me even sent a personal email explaining why they were proceeding with other candidates. I had a feeling rejection was coming, but the respect they showed was exceptional compared to other recruiting processes I've encountered recently. I'm very grateful that a leader took the time to send a thoughtful email. I'd definitely apply again. What a great team they have there.
Communication was good throughout the process, keeping me informed about what to expect, next steps, and who I'd be meeting. I was clear on the process and comms were timely. Maybe more clarity could have been provided on the take-home assignment, but the recruiter was available for questions, so maybe that was just me.
The recruiter was late and seemed unprepared, not having reviewed my resume. Instead of focusing on the role, she mostly talked about herself and Ashby's recent funding. She didn't ask many relevant questions, just mentioned the pay range and company trips. This felt like a waste of time and didn't give a good impression of Ashby.
