Candidate-reported interview process

Had a 20 min phone call. The person interviewing me didn't seem to know my background, asking generic questions not tied to my cv or experience. It felt like they were just going through the motions, likely because they had many interviews or no time to prep.

This was a phone call interview. The person interviewing me was nice and made me feel comfortable. It was basically a chat where they asked me stuff and I answered. They wanted to understand my skills and what I'm interested in. If I had experience in a business setting, they asked about that too, especially if I knew anything about the industry.

I applied online with my CV and cover letter that I tailored to the job description. A couple of months later, I had a phone interview. A few weeks after that, I was told I wasn't a good fit for what they were looking for. Lots of jobs don't even reply, so I appreciated them getting back to me.
