Candidate-reported interview process

I talked to a recruiter, the hiring manager, and some people I'd work with from other teams, which was 3 chats in total. The vibe was pretty casual. I got to ask them stuff too. I didn't get any news after, and turns out I didn't get the job.

The initial interviews went well. I was then asked to complete a project that was described as brief, but it ended up being quite involved, especially with my current job. I managed to finish it and presented it to the director. During the presentation, the director repeatedly asked about my sources of inspiration, taking notes of the brand names and even asking for their spelling. Afterward, I was informed I was no longer being considered for the position. I feel my ideas were exploited and that I was used to get free work, especially since I have a strong portfolio that showcases my abilities.

It was a quick 15-minute introductory call, starting with greetings and then moving directly into the main points. I was surprised that salary expectations were brought up so early in the hiring process. The interviewer was quite friendly and encouraging. I feel Aritzia is a great place to work.
