I had a phone chat with the HR recruiter to kick things off. The hiring manager was swamped, so they gave the recruiter a list of questions to ask me. It ended up being less of a cultural fit check and more of a technical skills assessment, which wasn't quite what I expected. It felt like they were more focused on my hard tech skills than how I'd fit in with the team.
The hiring timeline spanned about two weeks between each interview stage, but the recruiter was quite responsive to my inquiries. The steps included an initial HR phone screen, followed by a 45-minute video chat with the hiring manager for this position. Next, there was a 30-minute video call with an external UX consultant. The final stage was a substantial 4-hour onsite interview, broken into six distinct sessions, primarily with members of the engineering team with whom the role would collaborate. Notably, there was no formal portfolio review, take-home assignment, or on-site workshop conducted.
I had three interviews in total. First, a phone call with the recruiter. Then, a virtual interview with the hiring manager. After that, I had a 2-hour onsite interview, which was actually split into four separate 30-minute interviews. The first two stages were pretty straightforward, and I had enough time to ask them questions.
