There were 2 interview rounds. The first was with the hiring manager and the second was with a panel of 6 interviewers. Some of the interviewers really knew their stuff and dug deep into my work experience. However, a few asked me questions that were clearly outside my area of expertise, which felt like they were setting me up to fail.
The first interview was pretty straightforward, mostly just chatting about my background and experience, and then they quickly set up the technical interview. The tech interview involved several questions covering heat transfer, fluids, energy, and control systems. These questions weren't overly difficult, but they were a bit tricky to prepare for because the topics were quite varied.
They first reached out by phone to discuss my salary expectations and recent projects. The initial interview was focused on my background and academic experience. Following that, I had to prepare and deliver a presentation about a complex machine relevant to the role, which was challenging due to the machine's intricacy. After about two weeks, they informed me via phone call that I had not passed.
