I went through a phone screen, then a technical interview with a senior engineer, followed by a non-technical chat with a mid-level staffer, and finally met with one of the Co-Founders. The interviews were tough, with many detailed scenario questions, but the Applecart team seemed smart and innovative; it looks like a great place to work.
First round was a phone interview with standard questions like where do you see yourself, why are you interested, and tell me about your experience. It's a new startup and the role is pretty vague, they want people to join from the beginning. The interviewer seemed very positive about the company's future success.
This was a terrible interview process, it felt like they were looking for unpaid consulting. There were many inconsistencies between the job posting, what the recruiter said, and what other people told me. For instance, everyone gave me different answers about who the role would report to. They also said there was no rush to fill the role, which felt like a red flag. They asked for a very extensive project but then didn't ask any questions about it and then ghosted me.
