A recruiter reached out about this role, and I was interested, so they set up a phone interview. It basically felt like the real interview, just over the phone. They asked me to introduce myself, explain my job search motivation, and then asked a bunch of behavioral and situational questions. After that, I had an interview with the hiring manager. The questions were similar to what the recruiter asked, but it felt more like a strict interview than a conversation. The hiring manager was a bit late and mentioned they had another call right after mine, so they had to wrap up quickly, even though my interview was scheduled for the end of their day.
I had a phone screen first, then 3 more rounds with the manager and some future colleagues. The recruiter kept following up for weeks saying they were almost ready to make a final decision, but in the end I withdrew my application to accept an offer from another company.
The HR reached out to me via LinkedIn to talk about the role. The HR person on the phone was low energy and didn't seem to care. She paused a lot and didn't say anything. She didn't talk about the company or the job until I asked. The next day, I got rejected. It was a really bad experience.
