I got this one-sided interview super fast after applying. It was all behavioral questions, and honestly, not that hard. I didn't get picked to go further, but the next step was supposed to be a Google Classroom meeting with someone.
I had a phone interview, then an in-person interview with two associates, followed by another in-person interview with two more associates. They also asked me to submit a case study, which I found pretty ridiculous for a people operations role. It was about eight pages long and took hours, and I didn't even get an offer even though they said they were impressed. One group admitted they hadn't even looked at it and asked me to walk them through it. The whole thing seemed really unorganized and they didn't seem to know what they wanted in a candidate. It wasn't conversational at all, more like a Q&A with inexperienced interviewers and awkward silence while they wrote down my answers.
There were two phone calls and two in-person interviews. The first phone call was good, but the second one felt unnecessary as few questions were asked. The first in-person meeting was great, I enjoyed meeting people and learning about the company, and I met one of the hiring managers. The second in-person interview was supposed to be with a senior exec, but they claimed they weren't in the office, even though I saw them there. It seems like they weren't sure what they were looking for in the People Operations role, and I think they need to clarify their growth strategy and hiring process.
