Align Technology Research Engineer interviews, decoded.

It was a two-stage interview. The first was a technical interview focusing on my experience and skills. They gave me a real business problem they're facing and asked how I'd solve it. The second stage was split into two parts: a coding interview and a Machine Learning interview. The coding interview was like a standard Leet Code style, with some extra ML questions at the end. For the ML part, I had to pick a paper from a list they provided, I chose 'Attention Is All You Need,' and we had a detailed discussion about it.

First I was contacted by a recruiter, then I had 3 interview rounds: a 30 min video call with the hiring manager, a 1 hour technical interview over video with 3 interviewers, and finally an onsite interview with 3 interviews and I had to give a 45 minute presentation.

Had an initial call with HR asking general fit questions and about visa status. About a week later, had a video interview with the hiring manager where they asked about my past projects and 1-2 questions on core technical skills for the team. Got rejected after that, no feedback was given.
