Albert Einstein College of Medicine Graduate Program interviews, decoded.

I met individually with 5 PIs whose research areas seemed to align with my own background, for about 15 minutes each. They asked me about my research experience. They weren't super focused on the tiny details of my project but more on whether I got the general objectives and reasoning behind my experiments. I didn't have enough time to deeply dive into their research beforehand, but I did manage to check out their lab websites and skim their abstracts. They were pretty open to discussing their own work. As a prospective student, your visit is essentially a big interview for the school and, if you're fortunate, a chance to find potential mentors.

I applied for the grad program and went through a three-day interview process with several rounds. I talked with about five faculty members about their research and lab settings. I found a few I was really interested in, and when I got accepted, I did rotations in those labs.

The process took 3 days and was well-planned. Day 1 involved checking into the hotel and having dinner. Day 2 included 4 interviews, with interviewers who were mostly fair, welcoming, and enthusiastic. After the interviews, there was dinner followed by an informal gathering with other grad students on campus. On the next day, there were more meetings with staff and attendance at a works in progress talk.
