First I spoke with HR about the role, then the hiring manager about my selling style and expectations. After that, I had two more calls with VPs to check on my experience and see if I was a good fit.
You can expect about 3-5 interviews with people on the sales team, managers, and even engineers. Some of these chats could last an hour or two, depending on the specific team you're interviewing with. A few teams might ask you to give a presentation to help make your case. The final step is an interview with the VP.
I reached out to Akamai sales and a recruiter set up a phone screen. They asked some basic questions, and then I met with the hiring manager to talk about two potential roles. After that, I had interviews with a peer and an engineer who work on or support the team. Then, I had a teleconference with two VPs of Sales. One of the VPs indicated an offer was coming, and the hiring manager said the same. After not hearing back for nine days, I followed up and was told by the hiring manager that both positions had already been filled. It was pretty disappointing and confirms what I've heard from customers and competitors about their attitude. Honestly, I feel like I dodged a bullet.
