For the Senior Software Developer role, the hiring process begins with an HR call, lasting 30 minutes to an hour. Following this, there's a technical round. Given it's a senior position, a system design round is included, along with two additional rounds that are specific to the particular role you're applying for.
The hiring manager round and system design round went well! However, the coding round was really disappointing. I was trying to ask clarifying questions, but the interviewer told me to stop thinking and just code the solution to match the output. He was more concerned about my code compiling than my thought process. It felt like they're looking for someone who can code without thinking. The recruiter had mentioned the coding round would be a real-life problem, not a LeetCode style question, and that I could even use AI. Even though he seemed nice, it suggests he's not very competent in his role!
I had to reschedule the first time because the interviewer was about 10 minutes late to the call. The second time, they were also about 5 minutes late. The interview focused on theoretical concepts. In one of the questions, I was corrected because I supposedly answered incorrectly, but it turned out the interviewer was the one who was mistaken.
