I had a great recruiter interview. The second round was really awkward though. They missed my call initially and rescheduled it about 40 minutes after the original start time. The rescheduled call wasn't great either. The interviewer was very impatient and seemed annoyed when I couldn't answer a question. They kept cutting me off while I was trying to figure out the questions. It was a bummer after such a good first call with the recruiter.
I reached out to a friend at Affirm who passed my resume to the recruiter. About a week later, I had a recruiter phone screen. Then, I had a technical phone interview with two data scientists about ML topics. Within an hour, I was told I'd move on to another technical phone interview with a software engineer, this time focused on coding. After that, I came on-site for about six interviews with data scientists, a product manager, a software engineer, and the DS team lead. These interviews seemed to accurately reflect the work described in the job posting. I interviewed on a Friday and got the decision early Tuesday morning.
The interview process was pretty standard. First, there were two phone screens, each lasting about an hour. One focused on machine learning concepts, and the other was a coding challenge. After that, I had an onsite interview where I met everyone on the data science team. During the onsite, there was a hands-on modeling exercise and another coding exercise. The remaining parts of the onsite were more like general chats.
