It was a pretty standard phone screening. We had a nice chat, and I was told I'd hear back about the next steps in two days. It's been two weeks, and I still haven't heard anything, even after sending follow-up emails. Super disappointing not to get any update on a role I was really interested in.
I got an e-mail to set up a 30 min screen with a recruiter. He missed our first appointment. I had to e-mail him to see if he was free... I was asked to reschedule, he finally showed up. It was really obvious he was just reading a script. He didn't know anything about the role or who it reported to. I bet he was just looking for keywords. Since I'm interviewing with Apple and Amazon for similar jobs, I'm not too bummed about not getting this one. This whole thing says more about the company than about me.
The interview was spread over two days because many people were out of office for the holidays. Each interview lasted about 30 minutes and was with a different person from the department. I talked to technical engineers about my experience with development and troubleshooting, client success managers about my customer communication skills, and the department manager about my strengths, weaknesses, and interest in FinTech. I had prepared a lot, and the interviews themselves weren't too technically difficult.
