The phone call lasted about 20 minutes and served as a basic background check. I felt I talked too much about my experience and didn't keep it concise, and the interviewer seemed uninterested. I should have been more direct and steered the conversation differently. The interviewer then asked what programming languages I knew and let me ask questions about the company.
I went through an interview process for a newly created position. First, I had a lengthy informational chat with a recruiter that lasted over an hour, where they asked me typical interview questions. After that, I had a second phone interview, which was also an informational interview, with a manager from the team. They suggested I move on to a third interview with the VP of the division. But, about a week later, I was informed that my background wasn't what they were looking for.
I first applied for a Product Management role in December 2014, but took another offer then. About 8 months later, the recruiter reached out about some new openings. I did a phone screen and then about 5 phone interviews with senior folks and product leaders. Then, they flew me to Austin for interviews with Senior Directors, product teams, and developers. This part included a working session where I had to tackle a case study they gave me 12 hours before. About two months after that, I had a final phone interview with the General Manager of Product, and the offer came around 30 days later.
