Applied online. Recruiter called within a week to schedule a hiring manager call. Recruiter was nice and set expectations. Hiring manager asked about my past experience. Then I went for an onsite interview that was 4 hours. Met mostly program managers and had lunch with a software engineer. Everyone was friendly. The office in Presidio was nice. Didn't hear back for a week. When I asked the recruiter, they said they wanted someone with more experience. They knew my experience from my resume and the HM call, so why waste my time on an onsite? They should at least give proper feedback instead of just 'more experience'.
I got approached by the recruiter right after I applied. We had a good call, and then they asked me to come in and meet the CEO since he was in town. I was excited to learn about the company culture and values from the CEO. However, the CEO was reading my LinkedIn printout a few minutes after I got there while I was talking. I guess the second rule of thumb is to actually believe in the company you're representing. The CEO's answers were super dry, like one sentence each, and he seemed unconvincing. I knew then it wasn't the place for me. I've hired tons of people before, and even though I'm interviewing this time, I'm still assessing if this is someone I can work with and learn from.
Started with a tour of the office, which was really welcoming with nice staff. Then, we discussed my past projects before moving to a whiteboard question. The interview included two kind developers.
