I taught a class in front of the principal and founder. It went well. Afterward, they interviewed me in their office. They asked normal questions about teaching, my expectations, and my future. Once it was over and they decided I was right for the job, they offered me a contract on the spot.
You have to create a sample lesson and then present it. They give you very few supplies to set up. You also have to create a report on a subject that is irrelevant. Most people get hired, but then they fire them. They interview people daily. Getting the job doesn't mean much. The teachers and directors are mean to associate teachers. The director and principal pick on everyone. You're on your own and they like to watch people struggle.
You have to do a 45 minute demo lesson for 4th grade. They give you a clear outline of what they expect from your lesson and are also very open to questions beforehand. After the demo lesson, there is a very straight-forward interview about your the experience listed on your resume and cover letter. It felt as if they had already decided I would be hired before my interview. The job offer was given to me on the spot. I know this also happened to other educators during their interviews. The job interviews tend to all happen at the elementary school.
