Candidate-reported interview process

I already knew the lab PI because I was a student and she was one of my thesis advisers. After I finished my MSc, I contacted her directly and we had a short conversation. We didn't talk much because we've known each other for at least 3 years. After that, I got the offer.

The entire interview was about 20 minutes long and took place on campus. The Principal Investigator asked me about my background in laboratory techniques and what my short-term goals were for this lab. We also talked about some ongoing projects in the lab, including the hypotheses behind them and any potential challenges that might come up.

You will talk with professors who are looking for research assistants. First, the professors will explain their research and what they expect from a research assistant. Then, they will ask about your research interests and experiences. Finally, they will discuss potential projects for research assistants and assess your fit for the role.
