First, there was a phone interview where they asked behavior questions about how you handle situations like working in a fast paced environment, living and working in tight spaces, and handling seasickness. It was a lot of yes/no answer type questions. Then there was a virtual interview with more detailed response type questions. They also played deadliest catch clips to give an idea of what sea conditions might look like.
First there was a phone screen, then after that I got the job, I had a Zoom call for about an hour with someone else from the company. They told me more about the job, then asked me some questions and I got a job offer.
The interview was pleasant, and they presented specific scenarios to illustrate the job's actual challenges. However, it felt quite impersonal. The interviewer seemed to anticipate that candidates might lose interest after hearing about the more demanding aspects of the role. Perhaps this is common for them, as I also found myself less interested after the interview. I suspect they might have fewer applicants withdraw if they were more detailed in the job listing instead of saving all the information for the interview. I personally thought I was applying for a different role before the interview due to the vague job description.
