Candidate-reported interview process

It was a phone interview. It started with an introduction to the company, then they asked some probability questions. There was a technical part, and I was also asked to explain technical concepts to non-technical people.

It was a 30-minute phone call. Started with them introducing the company and what they're looking for in a candidate. Then, I had to solve a probability problem and explain it to a manager or others who aren't familiar with probability.

A few days after applying, I got a call for the first round. It was with a VP and lasted about 30 minutes. He started by talking about the company and the type of person they were looking for, then asked me some probability questions.

Common 4R Systems interview questions

A focused selection of the most detailed candidate-submitted questions.

  1. 1

3 coins, 1 fair and 2 biased (with 2 heads), what is the probability that it was a fair coin given we get the head? Explain this result with non-statistical languages to someone who does not know the probability theory

  2. 2

Three people, with 5, 3, and 0 sandwiches respectively, shared them equally. The third person gave 8 coins to the first person to distribute equally. In what ratio should the first person share the coins?

  3. 3

There are 3 coins. One is regular (both head and tail) and the other two only have head sides. Now, flip one coin and get head. The question is what is the probability of this coin is regular one?

  4. 4

Probability question: If you toss 1 coin and see a head, what is the probability that this coin is the special one, given there are 2 normal coins and 1 special coin?
