Candidate-reported interview process

This was from an internal candidate's viewpoint. I had a phone screen with a recruiter, which I thought was unusual instead of a zoom screen. Then, I had an interview with the manager and director, which was great, followed by a take-home assignment. The outcome notification took over a month, and my follow-up with the recruiter was completely ignored. I find it unbelievable that they would take so long to inform internal candidates without any updates.

So I interviewed for a role with 2U and I'm super passionate about their mission. The start of the interview process was fast, but the experience after the final interview has been really bad. It's hard to get in touch with recruiters, and they keep changing the deadlines. I haven't heard anything back. This whole experience has been really eye-opening, regardless of whether I get the job. The take home was basically just answering interview questions in writing. The 1-hour video interview with people in the role had one person who clearly wasn't paying attention. I really like the 2U mission and the people I met, but they could definitely improve the interview process.

I applied online and an employee referred me to HR. I got a phone interview request the next day! After the phone interview, the recruiter set up video interviews with the team. I had three video interviews in total, including one with a VP, and got an offer in less than a week. The whole process took 5 months because 2U had a hiring pause during COVID-19. It went smoothly, the recruiter was nice and responsive, and the team seemed genuine and positive. Can't wait to join!
